Carve a Signet Ring in Jewellers Wax: Round, Oval or Square (Live Zoom)

Some previous wax carving experience is necessary for this class. This class is intermediate. Students will need to source and secure all the necessary tools listed in the Tools List before class if they wish to participate in tandem. You are encouraged to make your booking ASAP if you are watching the demonstration only. Please note that the classes are strictly conducted in English. Students must make their own purchase.

In this intermediate signet class, I'll demonstrate how to use hand tools along with marking and measuring for precision/symmetrical wax carving. By the end of the class, you will have a strong foundation in carving a signet ring in jewellers wax - with a good handle on how to mark and measure wax tubes for precision carving. If you choose to carve along with me, chances are you will have a finished signet ring in a cast-able condition. Please note that stone setting, sprueing, casting and finishing techniques are not included in this class.

The class duration is approximately 3 hours, although it might be more or less depending on the pace of our progress. It's recommended to not schedule any commitments directly after class in case it runs over time. I am available most days and cater to various time zones. The last class of the day must commence on or before 7pm AEST on any given day.

10. Stainless-steel wax carvers
11. Large double-ended/double-sided wax file
12. Wax needle files
13. Wax ring tube, signet style (T250, Ferris brand- blue or green)
15. Sanding paper (600, 800, 1200 grit)

The cost of the class doesn't include the cost of tools, so ensure to account for the cost of a wax carving setup prior to class registration. Regrettably, no refunds will be issued if a student underestimates the cost of the tools and equipment required.
