The "Truth Window" Necklace

The "Truth Window" necklace - an enchanting jewel fit for a forest fairy.

The pendant was hand carved in jewellers wax, lost wax cast in .925 sterling silver and set with an impressive heart shape 26.33ct Queensland boulder opal from the Opalton/Winton region of Australia. The opal is large (29 x 24 mm) and it has a highly polished undulating/stepped surface on a natural ironstone base, which adds to its quirk. The pitting and inclusions are Mother Nature at her finest, and are a natural part of the opal. 

The opal predominantly displays green/blue flashes of colour, with the brown ironstone host rock apparent throughout. The opal has been paired with a natural olive green tourmaline for extra sparkle (it's much brighter in the sun). 

This spectacular necklace has a window of revelation to the rear - the "truth window" - displaying the native ironstone of the solid Australian boulder opal. This solid opal has a low profile, and it sits relatively flat in its decorative setting. 

The sterling silver cable chain was hand formed and textured. Each link was soldered and assembled by Madame Mak. The s-hook clasp is also hand made. The chain is fixed (soldered) to the pendant via the two loops to either side of the opal, and the pendant can not be detached from the chain.

This necklace is not for the faint of heart - this statement construction weighs 39 grams.

Necklace length is: 68 cm maximum including the s-hook clasp mechanism. The S-hook clasp can be engaged from either side. The clasp has been hardened and tensioned, so the chain gently "clicks" into the clasp. The s-hook clasp can be carefully removed and repositioned on the chain to create a shorter "choker" style necklace - simply reposition the clasp evenly on both sides of the chain and let the excess chain drop behind your neck (offering an occasional tickle to the senses)!

Important Special Care: Do not use an ultrasonic cleaner or chemicals to clean your opal. Instead, gently wipe the opal with a soft damp cloth (the opal is solid and can be safely exposed to water when required). Keep opal out of extreme temperatures (excessive heat/direct sunlight, and extreme cold). When not in use, please store your necklace flat in the provided box. The silver components can be washed in warm soapy water, dried thoroughly and polished with the provided polishing cloth to restore shine and sparkle. Do not store anything on top of the necklace to avoid impact or damage to the opal. Remove necklace during sleep, showering, physical and/or dangerous activity.
