Short Blue Earrings

Goopy organic chandeliers as ear adornments! 

I was feeling experimental and colour coordinated with these mixed metal earrings. I matched the gemstone colours to the earring hooks, which are hypoallergenic anodized niobium! This concept was inspired by a client requiring hypoallergenic hooks due to ear sensitivity - and so my search began and inspiration struck for this mini collection!

These earrings are encrusted with London blue topaz, freshwater pearl and Australian solid white opal (earring 1, weighs 4.4 grams), as well as natural Earth-mined sapphires cast in place (earring 2, weighs 3.65 grams). 

Average earring length (excluding the hook): 3.3 - 3.5 cm  

Total length of drop (including the hook): 4.5 - 4.7 cm

Silver is polished to a semi-matte finish, and the reverse of the earrings have been slightly hollowed out to keep their weight comfortable - which adds to their quirkiness!

Important care instructions: the niobium ear wires are anodized. To ensure longevity of this finish on the wires, please store earrings separately and away from other jewellery to avoid abrasion. Keep the earrings out of prolonged sunlight. Clean with gentle hand soap and pat dry immediately. Once dry, the silver component can be polished with a polishing cloth! 

Gemstone information: London blue topaz is irradiated/treated for colour enhancement. Sapphires are natural Earth-mined and may have been heat treated (a standard procedure for colour enhancement).
